[edit] Hot springs
Rustic and primitive natural hot springs abound in the Pacific Northwest . . . clothing free is the expected norm at all of these hot springs as most of them are of federal lands with no explicit prohibition against simple nudity. Olympic Park Rangers acknowledge the clothing-optional character of their springs by posting signs alerting visitors to the clothing-optional expectations ahead. More hot springs are listed in C/O Hiking & Soaking in the Western U.S. & Canada Googlized map.
- Olympic Hot Springs is in Olympic National Park and retains a clothing-optional and tolerated tradition with discretion
- Baker Hot Springs is on National Forest lands. Clothing-optional is the norm.
- Goldmyer Hot Springs is on private property in trust with a caretaker on site. Reservations are required along with a nominal user fee. Clothing-optional is traditional.
- Scenic Hot Springs is on private property and is in the process of obtaining the permitting to reopen to the public with a caretaker much like Goldmyer.
- Comment: For those of you that have been to Scenic Hot Springs, we would love your help. I am the Naked Gourmet, just one of many working to bring Scenic back to the soakers. Mike, the new owner, is really having a hard time with King Co. but we can work together to please them to get the permits needed to go on. Scenic has been my spot high in the mountains over looking highway #2. Still the grand pool is open for soaking as long as you have respect for the land. Yes, in time a fee would be in place, to cover the upkeep. I have never met a rich person yet from owning a hot spring! Please, if you can, come on up May 27th 9:30 am at the gate bring gloves, crowbars, ropes etc. We are removing some of the old wood and trash from the old pools. Hope that you can lend a hand. NG
- Addendum to Robert's comment: RSVP to the link in the Scenic Blog if you can make it. Rick
- Wind River Hot Springs (on DNR lands) is presently inaccessible because of legal issues with adjacent land owners. It is hoped the new owner will be amenable to restoring access to these natural hot spring pools on the Wind River.
